Melbourne Children’s Photography – Team Bella Never Give Up – Royal Children’s Hospital

“Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia is the most common childhood cancer. It occurs when a bone marrow cell develops errors in its DNA.
Symptoms may include enlarged lymph nodes, bruising, fever, bone pain, bleeding from the gums and frequent infections.”
I’ve kept in touch with Vanie a fair bit since first documenting her family together during Bella’s first cancer journey. She got in touch recently, wanting to capture some moments together in the hospital as they’d just received news that Bella will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant in just a few short weeks. Although the procedure has it’s risks, to say I was happy to hear the news that Bella could potentially be free from living life in the hospital attached to a machine is an understatement. Of course there is much more to it than that and I won’t try to explain it all but ultimately, this is their chance for freedom.
When Vanie got in touch, she mentioned Bella wanted to dress up as a ballerina and have some photos taken of her in her outfit.
As I arrived, Bella and her sister Olivia were dressed up in their best dresses. We took some photos in the room first and then headed out down the hall. Bella can’t venture out too far usually and is mostly confined to her room and the Kookaburra ward. Just for today we went out a little further to the big windows that overlook the playground and street. Bella stepped up to the window and looked outside. The sense of longing for a ‘normal’ life at home with her family was evident but she takes it in her stride and fights each day like a trooper because she knows she can and she has so much ahead of her!
Time for a quick family portrait before we headed back to the ward to do some ballerina photos!I gave her a bit of time but as she stood there at the window sill and I waited, she just jumped right into ballerina mode and started her posing. She was in her element! It made me so proud to be there to witness and capture this for her and for her family.
When she was ready, we headed back to her room and she grabbed at the chance to check out some family photos on her sisters iPad (while she wasn’t looking!) and it set her into hysterics <3
Bella I wish you a long life of happiness and health. May you breeze through transplant and never have to be back in this position again. You are the strongest and bravest and most courageous young lady I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and I look forward to seeing you back at school very soon!!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for allowing me to document this significant piece of your journey.

Casey surprised Errol with a few nights away at beautiful Olinda’s A Cottage in the Forest for his birthday.

They enjoyed a few coffees on the huge bed with breathtaking views of the forest and then explored the surroundings of the cottage. The session ended with some more coffee out on the back porch of the property.

“In my opinion the best thing you can do is find a person who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you, the right person will still think the sun shines out of your ass. That’s the kind of person that’s worth sticking with.” ~Juno (the movie, 2007)

Baxter Private Property Candid Wedding – Georgie and Scott

– Georgie and Scott –

“So, I’m thanking you today, because of you, I am now me.”

Georgie and Scott married at Georgie’s stunning childhood home in Baxter, Victoria. It was such a wet morning. They’d planned to have their ceremony outdoors under the willow trees but due to the wet weather, they organised a marquee and decided on safely having their ceremony in there. It was decorated so beautifully with vines and florals.

I couldn’t believe when Georgie had begun to make her way out to the marquee to walk down the aisle with her Dad, the rain stopped and the sun came out and shone bright for the rest of the day! It was such a beautiful ceremony, with all their loved ones watching on and getting so emotional.

The reception included giant jenga, awesome dance moves and some killer finger foods!

The couple wanted mostly candid photography throughout the day, with a some more intimate shots just of the two of them during their bridal portraits.

I can’t say enough just how gorgeous both Georgie and Scott are on the inside just as much as on the outside!

Congratulations Georgie and Scott and thank you so much for including me in your special day <3

Yarra Valley Backyard Wedding – Wedding Photography – Caroline and Tom

– Caroline and Tom –

Caroline and Tom had such a beautiful, fun filled day. Everything was so personal. The whole occasion was set in their very own backyard.

As I arrived, I walked inside to family preparing meals and setting up all the food inside. It smelled and looked INSANE! I was so lucky to stick around to get to taste some of it for myself!

Caroline and Tom chose to do a first look upstairs in their newly renovated bedroom. To say Tom was impressed is certainly an understatement (OMG that sequence dress was divine!). They both were just in awe of each other and couldn’t stop giggling.

They chose to walk down the aisle together, hand in hand and dancing along to the tunes. Their ceremony was the.best! Congratulations to Celebrant Sharon for finding something so unique yet so perfect for both Caroline and Tom’s vows. I’ve never quite heard vows like theirs, so witty!

We had a little getaway for the Bridal Portraits. A gorgeous open field just up the road and it was so worth it! Gosh, the sunset and rolling hills were just superb.

We got back to the reception and I was lucky enough to witness a guest performing some traditional dance/music.

I had such a fun and relaxed time, I love backyard weddings!

Congratulations Caroline and Tom.
